About

When Optiventure co-founder and CEO Hursh Dodhia-Shah needed a fulfilment partner for his global supplement brand, he had no ecommerce experience and a long list of requirements. Through fulfilment.com, Hursh compared four potential providers before choosing EZDC, a 3PL based in Kentucky. The partnership now supports international shipping to 18 countries, complex product bundles and country-specific labelling, without requiring constant oversight from the founders. It might be hard to believe, but Hursh says his fulfilment operation is so reliable that even a 50% cheaper alternative wouldn’t tempt him to leave...

Finding the right 3PL didn't cost a thing

For many ecom brands, finding the right 3PL means comparing prices, services and delivery promises. But for Optiventure’s co-founder and CEO Hursh Dodhia-Shah, the challenge was finding a fulfilment provider that could handle a complex business operation, without any previous ecommerce experience to draw on.

Founded by two long-distance hikers, Optiventure sells an all-in-one supplement system combining morning and evening supplements with travel pouches, designed for adventurers on extended trips. With customers around the world, the brand needed a US-based 3PL capable of shipping internationally, managing multiple product configurations and meeting country-specific labelling requirements.

Hursh knew what his brand needed, but finding a fulfilment provider that could meet his every requirement was another challenge altogether.

After discovering fulfilment.com, he shared his requirements, expecting the search to be both difficult and costly, but to Hursh's surprise, he was introduced to four suitable partners at zero cost.

Why EZDC won the business

Several providers looked promising, but the Kentucky-based EZDC stood out because its team took the time to understand exactly how Optiventure operated.

Before signing, Hursh was able to speak directly with the warehouse manager and head of support, enabling him to assess the people handling his stock and resolving issues, rather than relying on promises made during a sales conversation. That mattered because the brand’s requirements went well beyond standard pick and pack.

Although Optiventure sells one main product, orders contain multiple components: Sunrise and Sunset supplement bottles, plus two travel pouches. Different supply durations mean different product combinations, packaging configurations and picking rules.

International shipping also added another layer of complexity. Box sizes needed to be optimised to reduce volumetric shipping costs, while relevant orders required specific labels, including California's Proposition 65 warning. EZDC took the time to work through these details before the partnership even began.

23 hours to sell out

Optiventure sent around 250 units to EZDC ahead of its first official launch. Within approximately 23 hours, the available stock had sold out, with orders going to 12 countries. What’s even better, is that every package from that launch (even those going abroad) arrived at the customer's doorstep in under a week.

After moving manufacturing to the US and replenishing stock, the brand launched again. The fulfilment operation continued to run smoothly, supporting shipments to 18 countries this time, as the business expanded.

For Hursh, the real value is knowing orders are taken care of without him having to oversee every step. Rather than chasing shipments, troubleshooting warehouse issues or checking every operational detail, the founders can focus on growing the business, and enjoying their products out in the wild as intended.

Why 50% off wouldn't be enough to switch

The real measure of a good fulfilment partner isn't always how much money it saves. Sometimes, it's how much time, uncertainty and operational responsibility it takes off a founder's plate.

Hursh runs another company, while his co-founder spends around six months of the year travelling and hiking. They need fulfilment to keep running without either party having to constantly check in.

That confidence explains why even a 50% price reduction wouldn't persuade Hursh to switch. Changing providers would mean risking disruption, rebuilding processes and potentially taking on more operational work. A lower bill wouldn't automatically compensate for losing a partnership that already works.

“They really took their time to understand our requirements, which were quite complex.”

Four lessons Optiventure learnt when finding a 3PL

1.  Pay for the right fit

Optiventure found a partner they wouldn’t leave even if another provider offered 50% lower costs. For Hursh, the time saved, trust built and confidence in the service are worth more than chasing the lowest rate.

2. Details can make or break a partnership

Optiventure had complex requirements, from product configurations to country-specific labelling and international shipping. Taking the time to explain these upfront helped fulfilment.com find a provider equipped to handle them.

3. Choose the people, not just the provider

Finding a 3PL wasn’t just about warehouse space and shipping rates. Optiventure needed a partner that understood its requirements, took the time to get things right and could be trusted to manage fulfilment without constant oversight.

4. The right 3PL gives you room to grow

Optiventure’s first launch sold out in around 23 hours, with orders going to 12 countries. Having a fulfilment partner capable of supporting international orders helped the brand deliver to customers across multiple markets from day one.

How we can help

Optiventure compared a shortlist of providers before finding a partner it trusts to manage fulfilment across 18 countries. The result is an operation that runs with minimal founder involvement,  and a relationship it wouldn't give up for half the price.

If you’re looking to achieve something similar, tell us about your specific products, order volumes, operational requirements and growth plans, and we'll match you with the right 3PL partners in minutes.

“It still blows our mind that we can have dozens and dozens of orders go out every single month all around the world when we're barely even there to check in on the business.”
