About
Ripper & Co specialises in crime and horror merchandise, with card games now making up its main product range. But as the business grew, founder Morgan Wylie was spending 40+ hours per week packing orders during peak season, leaving little time for marketing or growth. Morgan wanted to take fulfilment off his plate without losing the personal service his business needed. fulfilment.com helped him find a local 3PL he hadn't discovered through his own searches, with flexible pricing, custom packaging and direct communication. As a result of the new 3PL partnership, Morgan now has more time to focus on the business, and Ripper & Co is expanding into the US for its next stage of growth.

When fulfilment started taking over
Ripper & Co's peak season runs from September to January, and as order volumes increased, Morgan found himself spending more and more time packing and dispatching orders.
During busy periods, fulfilment operations could take 4–6 hours a day, and even outside peak season, it was still taking around 1–2 hours. This meant less time for the things that would actually grow the business.
“Previously when I got super busy, I wouldn't have any time to do marketing. It was just operations the whole time.” - Morgan Wylie
Morgan knew it was time to outsource fulfilment, but finding the right 3PL wasn't as straightforward as he’d initially thought.
Finding a 3PL that felt like the right fit
Morgan initially researched providers himself and spoke to around five fulfilment companies.
Due to the size of his brand, the larger providers often felt too standardised, with Morgan wanting a partner that would understand his products and give him a more personal service. To achieve this, it meant looking beyond basic storage and pick-and-pack rates.
“I was ideally looking for someone who was a more personalised 3PL, rather than just everything being standardised.” - Morgan Wylie
With Ripper & Co's products and card games only weighing around 100g each, Morgan wanted quotes that reflected this, rather than being priced as though he was shipping larger or heavier items.
Discovering a 3PL that wasn’t on Google
For Morgan, one of the most useful parts of the fulfilment.com 3PL search was discovering providers he couldn’t find himself. The 3PL he ultimately chose and partnered with was actually very local to him, but hadn't appeared on Google.
The provider also stood out before Morgan had even signed up. Rather than arriving with a generic pitch, the team had researched Ripper & Co's website and products before meeting him. The personal approach also continued after onboarding.
As per Morgan’s requirements, the new 3PL offers custom packaging, multiple inserts and bundling, in addition to communication with the wider team through WhatsApp. The CEO has also given him a direct number for anything that needs escalating. It was exactly the hands-on relationship he'd been looking for.

“All the 3PLs you recommended were ones that I hadn't found independently, like the one I ended up going with was really local to me, and I wasn't able to find that one initially.”

A pricing model that matches the business
Finding the right operational fit was important, but so was the commercial model. Some of the alternative 3PLs Morgan considered offered lower unit costs, but charged £400–£500 a month in account fees.
The provider he chose, however, had a £100 monthly fee, with a somewhat higher unit cost, but for Morgan, that made more sense because the cost was more closely linked to the volume he was actually doing.
“It would be directly correlated with how much volume you were doing rather than high standing costs.” - Morgan Wylie
For a growing business like Ripper & Co that experiences seasonal peaks, that flexibility was important.
More time for marketing and business growth
Once fulfilment moved to the 3PL, Morgan no longer had to spend hours every day packing orders himself.
Since partnering, the domestic operation has been running smoothly, with marketplace orders from eBay and Etsy integrated into Shopify, allowing the 3PL to pull those orders through alongside the rest of the business. The biggest change, however, has been the time Morgan has back to work on the business.
“It’s massively freed up my time to be working on the important things rather than just packing orders. It’s also not just the time I’ve got back, it’s the peace of mind too. When everything’s running smoothly, you don’t have to worry about problems.” - Morgan Wylie
From UK fulfilment to US expansion
Following its successful search in the UK with fulfilment.com , Ripper & Co is now expanding into the US, with a US-based 3PL planned to support its next stage of growth.
Ripper & Co’s international marketplace orders have already highlighted some of the complexities of overseas fulfilment, particularly around customs communication when platforms such as eBay and Etsy don't provide the customer's contact details needed for overseas orders.
For Morgan, the longer-term solution is to establish a US fulfilment operation rather than continuing to manage international orders individually from the UK; and fulfilment.com will be part of that search too.

"I'd definitely be looking to use fulfilment.com again, and in the US too for that next step.”

A more personal approach to fulfilment
Like many growing brands, Ripper & Co didn't need a large, well-known 3PL, it just needed one that understood its products, offered a personal service and had a cost structure that made sense for its current volume.
Fulfilment.com helped Morgan look beyond the providers he could find himself and discover a local partner that actually matched those requirements 1:1.
As a direct result of his search, Morgan’s new fulfilment setup now gives him something much more valuable than just outsourced packing: the time and headspace to work on the business. Additionally, with UK fulfilment taken care of, Morgan can now focus on marketing, growth, and expanding Ripper & Co into new markets such as the USA.
How Ripper & Co rated fulfilment.com
Ripper & Co rated fulfilment.com 5/5 for ease of finding the right 3PL, support throughout the process and overall experience. Morgan also mentioned he'd use the platform again, including for the next stage of Ripper & Co's international expansion into the United States.
